What to Know About the Edmonton to Lethbridge Route

Highway 2 runs 450km straight south through Red Deer and Calgary before the route swings southwest into Lethbridge on Highway 3. Budget four to four and a half hours in good conditions. The stretch south of Calgary toward Fort Macleod is exposed prairie with little windbreak. In winter that section can deteriorate fast with blowing snow and reduced visibility.

Lethbridge sits on a coulee system with significant elevation changes between neighbourhoods. West Lethbridge, north Lethbridge, and the downtown core all have different road access and layouts than a typical flat Edmonton subdivision.
