Moving Crew Member

Position Overview

Moving Crew Members help safely pack, load, transport, and unload customers’ belongings. This is a hands-on role requiring teamwork, good judgment, attention to detail, and a professional approach to customer service. Previous moving experience is helpful but not required. Training can be provided to reliable candidates with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Protect, carry, load, and unload furniture, boxes, and household goods
  • Wrap furniture and use moving equipment correctly
  • Assist with packing and unpacking when required
  • Help keep trucks, equipment, and work areas organized
  • Follow safe lifting and handling practices
  • Work cooperatively with the driver, foreman, and other crew members
  • Communicate respectfully with customers and coworkers
  • Identify and report damage, safety concerns, or unexpected job conditions
  • Follow company procedures and customer instructions

Moving Driver / Foreman

Position Overview

Our Moving Drivers and Foremen are responsible for safely operating company vehicles and helping lead crews through residential and commercial moves. This role combines driving, physical moving work, customer service, job-site organization, and crew leadership. We’re looking for experienced, dependable candidates who can keep a job organized, communicate clearly, and represent Alberta First Choice Moving professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate company moving trucks
  • Complete required vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns
  • Lead or support crews during packing, loading, transportation, and unloading
  • Review job instructions and confirm the scope of work with customers
  • Organize the truck to protect belongings and use available space effectively
  • Monitor safe lifting, handling, and property-protection practices
  • Communicate job progress, delays, damage, or other concerns to the office
  • Maintain professional customer service throughout the move
  • Complete required job records, customer approvals, and closeout procedures
  • Help maintain trucks, equipment, and moving supplies

What We’re Looking For

  • Valid driver’s licence appropriate for the vehicles being operated
  • Acceptable driver’s abstract
  • Experience driving larger commercial, delivery, or moving vehicles
  • Moving-industry experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong communication, customer-service, and problem-solving skills
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to lead a crew and remain composed when job conditions change
  • Ability to safely perform the physical duties of moving work, with reasonable accommodation where applicable
  • Availability for varied hours, weekends, and occasional out-of-town work

Additional Assets

  • Previous foreman or team-lead experience
  • Experience with household-goods moving
  • Packing and furniture-protection experience
  • Commercial moving or delivery experience
  • Air-brake endorsement or higher-class licence, where applicable
  • Familiarity with electronic logs, navigation, or job-management applications
